Obituary for Maile J. Fahrion

Maile Jean (Peers) Fahrion peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

Maile was born on June 29, 1925 to Paul and Maile (Johnson) Peers in Rush City, Minnesota. Maile grew up in the Rush City and Harris areas and graduated from North Branch schools in 1943. On August 24, 1946, Maile married Finley Fahrion of Sunrise, Minnesota, and they made their home on the Fahrion farm in Peaceful Valley. To this union, their daughter Kathy was born. Fin and Maile served their local and faith communities during the years on the farm. Time was spent on the Sunrise Townboard, the Peaceful Valley 4-H club and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Maile was especially proud of being on the committee that brought the bookmobile to Chisago County and her charter membership of the North Branch Schools Alumni Association.

Maile was devoted to her family, friends and faith. She was known for her comfort food Sunday dinners where guests laughed and told stories of times past. Maile and Fin continued the tradition when they moved to Fish Lake where wild game and fish were served to even more friends, old and new. Maile organized 1943 class reunions, stayed in touch with the New Brighton Arsenal girls and the Plastech gals and enjoyed road trips with the Wild Bunch. After Fin died in 1992, Maile moved to Yorkshire Green townhouses in North Branch where she quickly felt at home. In this settled life, Maile was often seen sitting outside in her lawn chair on sunny days praying the rosary. As her health declined and her poor vision made it impossible to continue reading her shelves of books, she entertained visitors with stories of her childhood, memories of her life with Finley on the farm, and their times watching the sun set over Fish Lake.

During all of life's joys and challenges, Maile's faith, family, and friends sustained her strength, love and true contentment.

Maile is survived by her daughter Kathy Fahrion of Duluth, brother, Archie Peers and his son Paul Peers and grandchildren and the Fahrion, Hurley and Beckman families. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Finley in 1992.
