Obituaries

Barbara A. Berkman, Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died suddenly on Sunday July 11th at her home in North Branch.

Barbara was born March 18, 1934 to Harriet and Victor Jasperson.  She graduated in 1952 from Alexandria High School and from St. Cloud State University in 1954.  She taught first grade and kindergarten in the Anoka - Hennepin School District for 25 years.  In March of 1954 she married David I. Berkman and they raised five children.  They retired at age 55 and moved to their lake home in Hayward, WI.  After eight years residence there, they traveled full-time in their motor home for five years and enjoyed the scenery and sights of the US and Canada.  They finally settled in North Branch.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Darbi, and grandson Shane Porter. She is survived by her husband David I., children Vicki (Bill) Porter of Rockport, TX., David C. Berkman of Corcoran, Dawn (Kenneth Welton) Kelly of North Branch, Daniel (Michelle) Berkman of North Branch, seven Grandchildren, nine Great-Grandchildren and her brother Byron Jasperson. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
