Everett J. Backes of Osceola, died Tuesday, June 5th at Spring Valley Health and Rehab Center at the age of 75.

Everett was born April 8, 1937 in Tony, WI to Everett V. and Louise Backes. He graduated from Tony High School in 1957. He attended Northwest Telegraph School in Minneapolis. From June of 1960 until 1964 he served in the US Air Force as a Morse code interceptor. On November 14, 1964 he married his wife Marylin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osceola. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was a warehouse technician for 27 years. In his free time Everett enjoyed bowling, horse shoes, cribbage, bingo and playing 500.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents Everett V. and Louise Backes Hurin, step-father Steve Hurin, sister-in-law Rosella Lee, mother and father-in-law Agnes and Martin Eveland, nephews Michael and Matthew Lee. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Marylin, daughter Sheri (Tony) Anderson of Osceola, sons Jeffrey (Tracy) Backes of Dresser, Scott (Jenny Kretman) Backes of Osceola, Kyle Backes of Osceola, Dani (Karen) Backes of Osceola, Brant (Jamie) Backes of Osceola, Bruce Backes of White Bear Lake, grandchildren Nick (Liz)Lehmann of Chicago, Jennifer Backes of Osceola, Jessica Anderson of Shoreview, Cody and Te’a Anderson of Osceola, Brian (fiancé’ Johanna Alling) of Milltown, Tyler Backes of Dresser, Trevor and Devin Backes of Osceola, Adrianna, Alexis, Shane and Ella Backes of Osceola, Alyssa Anderson, Lilly and Colin Backes of Osceola, Austin Couch of Dresser, Bryan Arnold, Jacob & Brittney Backes of Osceola, great-grandchildren Parker Everett Lehmann, Kyra and Kayli Harrison, Lucas Powers, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
