Name: Donald C. Thomas Dates: Birth date: February 11, 1931 Death date: May 29, 2012 Obituary: Donald C. Thomas of Shafer, MN died May 29th at St. Croix Medical Center at the age of 81. Donald was born Feb. 11, 1931 to Walter and Jeanette Thomas. He attended the Brandstad School. He served in th US Army during Korea. On October 14, 1961 he married Shirley Swiggum at East Blue Mounds Lutheran church in Mount Horeb, WI. He held several manufacturing position in the area. In his free time he enjoyed camping, hunting, reading, watching the Military Channel, but especially enjoyed his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ella Jewell, Ruth Jewell, Ruby Lampert, and brother Raymond Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Shirley, son Walt (Wendy) of St. Croix Falls, David (Amy) of Dassel, MN, grandchildren Joe, Mike, Doug, Abby, Austin, Emma, Erika, Vincent, Richelle, special sister-in-law Bernice (Vern) Stratman, beloved nieces, nephews and close friends. Visitation: Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Service: Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9th at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Osceola. Cemetery: Private Family Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. |
