Alice D. Kurtz of St. Croix Falls died Thursday April 12th at the St. Croix Good Samaritan Center at the age of 79.
Alice Darlene Vicker was born on June 8th, 1932 in Rockdell, MN. She grew up and went to school there. She married Elmer Kurtz on November 13th, 1948 in Rochester, MN. They lived in Minneapolis and Rochester before moving to Eureka Center in 1952.
Alice was a stay at home mom until she went to work at the St. Croix Falls Hospital. She then went on to work for Polk County Social Services for many years before retiring.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Cushing, WI and always looked forward to different activities of the ladies group. Quilting and apple pie baking were her favorites. Singing in the choir was a passion held for most of these years. Alice also volunteered for Faith and Care. Alice enjoyed cooking a big meal for family and friends and was especially noted for her canning of great pickles.
Alice was preceded in death by daughter Sandra and sons Larry and Dennis. Alice is survived by her husband Elmer, brother Gorden (Becky) Vicker, sisters Anneta (Tracy) Phelps, Marlene (Harold) Paulson, Son Ron (Cathy) Kurtz, Daughter Sherry (John) Tewalt, daughter-in-law Jennie Kurtz, grandchildren Julie (Greg) Durushia, Jeff Tewalt, Kari (Dave) Vadner, Jay (Kendra) Kurtz, Jodi Kurtz, great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Jayson, Kenzie Kurtz, Tess Durushia, Jacob Vadner. She will be missed by all.
One hour prior to the service at church on Monday, April 16th.
Funeral service 11 AM Monday, April 16th at First Lutheran Church in Cushing, WI.
Interment Cushing Cemetery.
